Faculty-in-Residence: Faculty live in the residence halls to facilitate learning beyond the
classroom and serve as role models. This is a great opportunity to build your network
with individuals you usually only see in the classroom!
Living-Learning Communities: Communities where students live together based on
a shared interest or academic program. Living-Learning Community students also
participate in a shared course or courses together.
Affinity Housing: Affinity Housing presents the opportunity for students to define and
create their own living community around their particular needs and interests. This is a
great opportunity for registered student organizations, athletic groups and academic
groups to live together, but Affinity groups are not required to be tied to an organization
or department. Students living in Affinity Housing do not participate in shared courses
together.
Residential Student Leadership: Be a part of the Residence Hall Association (RHA)
by running for your hall council early in the fall semester to help program events and
provide your voice and input in residence hall governance. You may also be invited to
join the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), which is a leadership-based honorary
of exemplary residential students who value recognition and service.
You will engage with Community Coordinators (CCs) who are professional
staff members living in the residence halls. They are there to assist with
FACT
challenges related to living with a roommate, personal difficulties adjusting
to college life, building concerns, and supporting you in your journey at GW.
In addition to your CCs, you will have support from Community Engagement
Advisors (first-year residence halls) and Community Engagement Assistants (upper class
residence halls), who are undergraduate student leaders.
TO BUILD CONNECTIONS
GW PRO-TIP
We encourage you to attend the programs and events hosted in your residence
hall by your Community Coordinators, Faculty-in-Residence and Community
Engagement Advisors/Assistants. These programs and events will help you meet
students in your residence hall, and create opportunities to build connections.
