Purpose
Student Outreach and Support creates an inclusive, caring, and empowering environment
for students by promoting help-seeking behaviors, providing streamlined services and
cultivating meaningful experiences with community partners.
Services
CARE Referrals: This team manages an online form that allows for any individual to submit a
concern on behalf of a GW student. The team will assess the concerns reported and connect
students to appropriate resources.
First-Gen Support: Student Outreach and Support helps students who may be first in their
family to attend college with navigating the complexities of college life through community
building, resource sharing and encouraging academic success.
Health Promotion and Education: Supports students in making informed, intentional,
and risk-aware decisions through peer education, service delivery, policy advocacy and
responsive programming.
Military and Veteran Services: Assists student veterans, dependents and military personnel
with timely and accurate benefit processing and supportive community-building activities.
Basic Needs Support: The team offers a variety of basic needs support including the
management of The Store, GW’s on-campus food pantry and various student assistance
funds available for emergent and urgent needs.

If you make the choice to drink alcohol while at GW, this evidence-based training will
assist you with exploring your goals and motivations around alcohol use. All incoming
students should complete the training by August 15. If you do not complete your
training, a hold will be placed on your student account.
