Upward of 4,500 GW students work across campus with over 250+ oncampus departments and throughout DC at our off-campus Federal
Work Study (FWS) Partner organizations every year. On-campus student
employees greet prospective students, guide peers through writing
assignments, stocking our library shelves, assist with events, help manage
websites, and work with professors on research projects, while our offcampus FWS student employees are explain exhibits at the Smithsonian,
tutoring young children in our community, and support important nonprofit work in the DMV area.
Research has shown that students who work on-campus are more
successful in their transition to college, have higher GPAs, and have
higher graduation and retention rates. Students and family members are
often nervous about the student working their first semester in school,
but having a student position can help the student find their place at
GW, build a network of individuals to support the student, and help them
navigate GW.
Check out the New Student Resource page for more information on
getting started in a FWS or non-FWS student position.
